The Quatro is a simple tassel with a woven top.
The Quatro
Choose four colors of fingering weight yarn.
Wrap the first color around a small book or deck of play cards 30 times.
Cut the loops in half at one end and set the bundle aside.
Repeat for the remaining three colors.
Fold the first color bundle in half.
Wrap the next color bundle around the first, folding it in half and evening up the ends.
Wrap the third color over the second in the same way.
Wrap the fourth in half over the third. To close the knot, pull the ends of the fourth bundle through the loop of the first.
Gently work your way around the knot pulling on the ends to tighten.
Fold the ends down to form the length of the tassel.
Cut a length of one of the colors about 12” long.
Tie a slip knot with a tail as long as the length of the tassel. Slide the slip knot around the neck of the tassel and pull to tighten.
Thread the end through the eye of a tapestry needle, wrap the long end around the neck several times, knot, and burry the tails in the body of the tassel.
Trim ends.
Cut another 12” length.
Fold in half, insert the folded end into the eye of a tapestry needle.
Sew through the top of the tassel, remove needle, and pull tail through the loop to form a tie at the top of the tassel.
Use this top tail to secure the Quatro to your project.
