Who Doesn't Love a Good Tassel? Part 4: The Lady
The Lady is a simple tassel with curves for days.
All the Ladies
The Lady is a basic tassel made in a similar manner to the Faded.
Use a small book, a pack of playing cards, a cell phone as a tassel form.
Wrap your yarn around the form for approximately 80 wraps .
Cut an extra length approx. 18” long, and fold it in half.
Insert the folded edge of the yarn through the eye of a tapestry needle.
Insert the needle through the top fold of the wrapped tassel strands and remove the tapestry needle.
Pull the tails through the looped end and pull to secure it around the tassel strands. Knot the end tightly against the head of the tassel to secure the tails.
Carefully slide a pair of good, sharp scissors into the bottom fold of your wraps being sure to pick up all of the loops and cut.
Cut another 12” length of yarn, and make a slip knot with a tail as long as the tassel.
Slide the slip knot about ¾“ down from the top of your tassel to form the tassel neck, and pull to tighten.
Thread a tapestry needle with the end and wrap several times around the neck.
Knot then bury each of the tails into the middle of the tassels to hide them.
Cust a second 12” length, and make a slip knot just as you did for the neck.
This time, place your slip knot equidistant from the neck and tighten to make a waist.
Wrap, secure, and bury the tails of the waist yarn in the same fashion as the neck.
Trim the bottom of your tassel to tidy it up.
Use the long tail at the top to secure your tassel to your project.
