The Wakebrite bandana pattern captures the romance of its nautical namesake—a poetic term for the reflection of light left on water by the moon or harbor lights.  An exploration in organic pooling, this simple triangle bandana is knitted flat from bottom up entirely in linen stitch with a single skein of quarter-dyed fingering weight yarn. The resulting fabric is reversible, but I find the reverse side to be more interesting because of its nubby texture and stacked colors beautifully evoking the reflection of harbor lights on nighttime water.

Yarn:
1 skein of Barker Wool BFL Fingering in any quarter-dyed colorway, shown here in Respair.

Needles:  US size 5 (3.75mm)

Gauge: 9 STS x 16 rows = 1x1 in linen stitch.  Gauge is not vital, but the finished fabric benefits from a tighter than usual gauge to crispen the drape of the final kerchief.

Finished Measurements:  12” deep x 48” wide.

* Wakebrite can easily be converted into a full-sized shawl by adding another skein or two and continuing to your desired size.  Consider going up at least two needle sizes to relax the drape if making a larger shawl.
