  • Using a small book, a pack of playing cards, or a cell phone, wrap the yarn around at least 100 times. This is a puffy tassel, so no wimpy wrapping here. Both tassels will be made together and then separated at the end.

  • Cut two lengths of fern 12” long.

  • Fold one of the lengths in half and thread the folded end through the eye of a tapestry needle.

  • Run the needle under the wraps on one end.

  • Remove the needle and pull the cut ends of the length through the looped end, pull tight, and knot to secure.

  • Repeat for the other end.

Wrap yarn around the form and secure the end ties.

  • Slide bundle off of the form.

  • Next cut two more 12” lengths.

  • Make a slip knot with a tail as long as your finished tassel.

  • Slide the slip knot over the top to create the neck of the tassel on each end and pull to tighten.

  • Wrap several times, knot, and thread the leftover tails through a tapestry needle and bury them inside the bundle.

Slide off form and secure the necks.

  • Using sharp scissors, cut the tassels apart down the middle as shown.

  • Give them a good haircut to tidy up the ends.
